for Children and Youth Consultation Project

What is the consultation about?

On January 16, 2024, Premier David Eby announced that the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation would receive funding for a consultation project to identify the programs and services that could comprise a regional Centre of Excellence for Children and Youth in Northern BC. The consultation aims to answer a key question: “How can we design a comprehensive and integrated system of care that best meets the unique needs of children and youth in Northern BC?”.

Services could include, but are not limited to:

A final report and proposed service model  plan will be developed based on feedback received during the engagement process and is expected in Summer 2024.

In-Person Sessions

The project team will be hosting sessions in Northern BC communities during the months of April and May to enable communities of interest to share their feedback, insight, and perspective on the development of the Centre of Excellence for Children and Youth. Please register to attend. Location information will be forwarded in a confirmation email.

Request a Facilitated Session

As time and resources permit, the project team will do its best to accommodate requests for additional in-person sessions as well as facilitated virtual sessions, particularly for communities of interest that are not able to attend scheduled in-person sessions. Please submit your request.

Virtual Sessions

The project team will invite key communities of interest to engage in virtual consultations through Online Communities, a dedicated digital platform that creates additional accessible opportunities for community members to share their experiences and insights. This online platform will offer participants daily prompts over a set period, enabling them to log in and contribute as their schedule allows.

Who is receiving your feedback?

The project team, led by Chief Dolleen Logan, will be gathering feedback from this consultation process.  It will inform a final report and proposed service model that will be presented to the Province of BC in the summer of 2024.
