Construction of the North Coast Transmission Line (NCTL) is officially underway, marking a significant milestone for Northern British Columbia and participating First Nations. This project is expected to expand access to clean electricity, support major industrial development, create thousands of jobs, and unlock long-term economic opportunities across the region.

In this member update, we recap the recent announcement and share why this moment is important for the Nechako First Nations. Through a Yinka Dene-led review process, our Nations worked together to assess the project and advocate for the conditions necessary to support its advancement while protecting our lands, waters, and cultural values.

As construction begins, discussions continue with BC Hydro, the Province of British Columbia, and other partners to ensure First Nations participation includes long-term benefits, economic opportunities, training, employment, and meaningful involvement throughout the life of the project.

This milestone reflects a shared commitment to building major infrastructure projects through collaboration, respect, and reconciliation.
