Finance and HR

The Finance Department runs and operates all of the accounting functions of the Band and Band-owned Corporations. This Department maintains records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and benefits, banking, general ledger and financial statements.

The Finance Department leads the annual budgeting session with each Band department, monitors the results and provides each Band department with updated budget reports. Reporting of budgets and financial statements are also provided to the Executive Director, Chief and Council. The Finance Department also prepares year-end working papers to support the annual audit.

Human Resources is responsible for managing the Band’s employees, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training and development, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. Their goal is to support employees and create a positive work environment.

Towfiqul Islam is a highly experienced financial and administration management professional with over 20 years of expertise in enabling organizations to achieve their strategic goals. He currently holds the position of Deputy Executive Director at Lheidli T’enneh Nation.

Before joining Lheidli T’enneh Nation in September 2018, Towfiqul worked for Leon’s Manufacturing in SK and East Coast Group, Kurmitola Golf Club, Baker Hughes Inc, Cathay Pacific-Dragon Air, where he held progressively senior finance positions. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong reputation for his ability to lead and manage financial and administration functions, as well as for his strategic acumen in supporting organizations to achieve their goals.

Towfiqul holds a range of academic qualifications, including CGA (Level 4), PGD in Strategic Management Accounting, and Triple master’s degrees in business administration, Accounting and Management. His educational background, combined with his extensive practical experience, makes him a highly skilled and knowledgeable financial and administration professional.

Confidence Ben is the Human Resources Manager with Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Confidence is an experienced Human Resources professional with a proven track record of success in managing all aspects of HR operations. With a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Human Resources and a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Administration, Confidence brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to LTFN.

At LTFN, she is responsible for, among other things, managing the day-to day operations of human resources including employee relations, benefit administration, recruitment and selection, training and development, succession planning, HR planning, talent management, performance management, and personnel management to improve and enhance corporate initiative aligning with LTFN strategic goals. In addition to her human resources experience, she has experience in the social service sector. Confidence is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment, where all employees feel valued, motivated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
