Housing

Housing Department

The Lheidli T’enneh Housing Department plays an important role in the functioning of the community by fulfilling a basic human right to housing.  As such, the Department strives to provide adequate housing to community members in a fair and equitable manner.

Having a safe and consistent living space is important in developing security and stability.  Lheidli recognizes this and is proud to support its band members by offering housing opportunities to suit their needs.

Applying for Housing

Housing is a right.  Whether it’s renting temporarily or living in your own home, it’s important to understand your rights, and also your responsibilities.  The following links provide additional information.

Housing Policy – this policy manual is a tool to enhance the delivery of the Lheidli housing program and services on the reserve. The Housing Policy is not law; it is a set of rules and guidelines, that have been approved by the Band government on the way in which housing is to be managed, and the way in which clients and community members are to conduct themselves with regard to on-reserve housing.  By having these policies available, everyone can abide by the same set of rules and have fewer problems.

Housing Application – this is the application that needs to be filled out to apply for housing.  Eligibility for subsidized on-reserve housing is governed by the following set of guidelines:

  1. The primary applicant is a registered member of the Band
  2. The application form is correctly completed
  3. The applicant has no outstanding debt to the Band
  4. The applicant provides income verification
