In 2000, Lheidli T'enneh became the first British Columbia First Nation to ratify their Land Code under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management, whereby giving Lheidli T'enneh full governance and the abilitry to make decisions regarding land management and land use planning.
A key priority under the Lheidli T'enneh Land Code was to undertake and complete a land use plan for the 675 hectares areas of the Reserve Lands for future residential, commercial and industrial development and set aside other areas for preservation. Initiatives that are currently underway include: comprehensive development planning and ecomonic diversification planning.
