Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP) is funded through INAC, under a new program called the Infrastructure Fund (released Fall 2007). The Infrastructure Fund is designed to give First Nations the opportunity to explore infrastructure and program development within a more holistic framework. There are four categories for the Infrastructure Fund:
CCP links existing programs, community issues and the Memberships’ visions for the future of Lheidli T’enneh with real plans that map how to get there.
It integrates and links all other plans the community has produced like the PDP, land use plan, economic development and health programming with infrastructure requirements and capital costs.
The CCP also looks at resources for funding for infrastructure and program development.
The Principles of sustainable planning will be used as a foundation for the CCP process.
We will meet with ALL programs and identify gaps in programming, business development and infrastructure based on Members’ visions for the future.
We will prepare budgets based on these needs and try to match funding sources to them.
A CCP Steering Committee (SC) will guide the process. This Steering Committee will be comprised of members from the Lands Authority, a youth and Elder representative, and members living on and off reserve.
We hope to dovetail with other programs to listen and learn from the Membership about programming and development needs and visions for a vibrant, healthy, economically community
The CCP will be completed by March 30, 2009.
The CCP Liaison, Joshua Seymour will produce a monthly newsletter, with different issues and initiatives and highlight positive events/people in the community.
Would like to try some pilot projects, linking health language and culture.
